Where To Get Help With Abstinence: Conferences, Life Groups, and Books

Image
In the last couple of months I’ve run across a couple of resources that I would’ve liked if I were still abstinent. So, I thought I’d pass them along to you. In my latest video , I talk about the importance of getting help, in your abstinence path. (Lest, you become one of the 96% of Americans that aren’t abstinent.) Obviously, loads of those people don’t want to be abstinent in the first place, but I know some of those people did want to be, but they failed. *sad face emoji*           A couple of conferences that I’ve heard of are the Pinky Promise Conference for Christian Singles, and the Pursuit Conference by Focus on the Family. The first conference is led by Cornelius and Heather Lindsey. If you are trying to be abstinent, and you don’t know about them, you need to! First of all, they’re adorbs, and a very attractive couple. Second, their relationship story is SO GOOD! Both sexually active in the past, then saved th...

Did God Really Tell You He's The One???

Image
When I was 18, I was in a relationship that I have no business being in. When I first met him, he didn’t have a car. (It wasn’t a huge deal to me because, I was only 18. Although, he was 2 years older than me.) 2 years later, he still didn’t have a car. Over those 2 years he had a gazillion jobs, because he couldn’t keep one. Something always happened for him to get “unfairly” fired. And when he got mad, he got REALLY mad. He never put his hands on me, but he did talk down to me. And he had a terrifying way of twisting my mind to make it seem like he was right, when he absolutely wasn’t. (If you’d like to hear more personal stories, like this, about me sign up here to get on my Single or Dating email list.)           But when times were good, they were good. He loved to spoil me (when he had money). Lol He made it very known to everyone that he loved me to the core. He loved showing me affection, and was proud of me and o...

The Happy... Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Year!

Image
Happy New Year, Blissies! I'm giving my official New Year greeting today because I took a tiny break from posting and writing to enjoy the holidays, enjoy hub's early schedule and to take some time to get Wedding Night Bliss' duck in a row. But now, it's back to business, it's official. Happy New Year! I wanted to take a moment and reflect on last year, like we all tend to do. (I know, so not original!) But I think it's important, so I'll follow the herd this time. :) Last year was a difficult year for me and my little family. After a rough 2nd half of 2011, I was looking forward to a better year, but 2012 wasn’t quite what I expected. It was a year of struggle for us. Constant struggle is exhausting, and I was definitely exhausted last year. But as in any trial, there's always a lesson. A bunch of lessons, in my case! :) But before I talk about the lessons, I want to say that I'm still, and always have been so so grateful! In 2011 we overca...

In Honor of Newtown, A Prayer of Protection

Image
In light of the tragic shooting in Newtown, Connecticut I thought it would be appropriate to post something in honor of the poor innocent children, and adults who lost their lives. But I am at a loss for words. This level of evil is too much for me to contemplate. So instead of trying to write something that will bring peace to those families, which I know is impossible, I will do what I’ve always done during times of great pain. I turn to God.                 The one thing I know in the midst of this pain is that God did not do this. He is a God of love, peace, and compassion. In the absence of God, evil is able to roam. May we, as a nation, recognize our need for God. May we turn our ways around and put Him back in our schools. May He be the cornerstone of the United States of America again, as He once was.  ...
